We have a small sample of papers, case studies, articles and books prepared by our Alliance members. We have listed them by sub-topic for ease of use.
Hitting the Target (2005) is a companion to CAM-I's Target Costing published in 1997. It focuses on implementation issues and is meant for readers who are familiar with target costing and want to take it to the next level. Introducing the target costing technique requires more than getting the technical aspects right. This book addresses often overlooked tasks such as handling, managing, and leading organizational change. Change management and people issues are at the forefront of this book. This guide uses a simple three stage framework to depict implementation as a movement from knowing about a new technique, to doing it in practice, and then being or institutionalizing the practice so it becomes a part of the organizational fabric.
ServQ Alliance team members worked in the CAM-I Target Costing team between 2005 and 2009 developing training material, special projects and research through life costing best practices for aerospace, defence, oil and gas, software, vehicle manufacturing, public and private sector services.
Between 2004 and 2008 Alliance Members, including the University of Leeds team worked on a major programme developing Enterprise Networks in manufacturing, chemicals, healthcare, environmental technologies, information systems and marine engineering. The team was awarded a series of commissions and implementation projects during this period, leading to advances in costing, performance management, innovation processes and new product development.
One of the first significant deliverables was the groundbreaking Finance and Audit Manual (2005) which was the result of a year working with dozens of SMEs, two universities in the UK (Leeds and Loughborough) and input from team members at Yorkshire Forward, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Pilgrim, SAS, Boeing and senior members of CAM-I including the President Mr. Ashok Vadgama. The original methodology was funded by Yorskhire Forward and the EU.
We are able to review and propose how this can be used to create competitive advantage and build strong effective governance into your proposed or current Enterprise Networks. The Alliance would also like to acknowledge the input into this programme from our former colleague at ServQ Limited George Weir and the Chairman Ian Watson.
